Weather Extremes Cause Conflict
This summer is bringing extreme weather systems to all parts of Canada. Happily we are currently having a break from the hot and dry weather that has perpetuated many of the lightening & human-caused fires that are raging across the province of BC.
Lately there have been cases of campers flouting a province-wide ban on campfires. The campers have even intimidated conservation officers when caught with open fires.
Even a fine of $375 doesn’t seem to be stopping some of the campers, although it is widely known now that if you are caught causing a wildfire you can be liable for all the costs in extinguishing it. Since the province has already spent upwards of $297 million to fight fires and the dry summer weather isn’t over yet.
Have you been affected by a wildfire?
