A New Idea – Greener Lighting – Image of the Week
This is the new look of “green” lightbulbs. The compact florescent swirly bulbs are going out of favour because of the minute amount of mercury vapor that is released if they are broken. If you do break one, leave the area for 15 minutes and return to clean up the mess with a damp cloth afterwards.
I can remember as a child playing with the mercury of a broken thermometer, letting it roll around in the palm of my hand. Now we grab the kids and run for cover if we break a bulb. How times have changed!
A word of warning about the new LED bulbs, they are expensive (for now) and they are very dim compared to CFLs and conventional lighting . If it says it’s as bright as a 40 watt bulb, it’s only seems to be only about half of that.

I’m not running current through my fingers, I added the glow to the LEDs afterwards in photoshop.
