Looking for a companion on your morning run? Look no further than the dalmatian!
Used as mascots today, dalmatians were first kept by fire departments to clear the road for horse-drawn fire coaches, and then run alongside the carriage. If a dog can keep up with a horse, it will have no trouble keeping up with you as you run. Dalmatians need lots of exercise, so this isn’t a lap dog by any means. This is a breed of social, headstrong dogs, and doesn’t like to be left alone for long periods, so it’s best if you work close to home or have someone who can stay with your dog. Just as with all purebred dogs, the dalmatian has certain breed issues; urinary tract issues and deafness are common as well as light sensitivity and skin allergies.
