I Had the pleasure of watching the new Dune adaptation this weekend. Denis Villeneuve did an admirable job of creating a world that feels truly alien to our own. It’s ironic given my line of work, but I’m surprised by the depth of feeling a movie can produce in the viewer. This image of a solar eclipse I rendered years ago now reminds me of Dune, a place that does not exist. That may be the ultimate triumph of art, to create a genuine feeling from lovingly crafted fakes.
