As adults, we make informed decisions every day about our current world.  But what about the future world?  What kind of world are we building for our children…

Is the world we have chosen to build for them the same world they would have built for themselves?  In western culture, we think children are “old enough” to make decisions about their own lives at different ages, and different families and countries define these ages the same.  How old is old enough to include children in a dialogue about their world?  When they do inherit the earth, what do you think the children of the future will think of the decisions that the children of the past have made?  Do they want to inherit a planet deficient in natural resources but rich in used energy, or would they prefer that we develop green technology?

If you were to survey the connected generations of today, it’s doubtful that they would like to give up their cell phones and twitter updating; but I think neither would they give up animals, and the habitat that supports those lives.

Is the internet forcing a resurgence of knowledge that we are all interconnected in a web of life, or is it pushing all generations further apart?  What is the future of green energy?  How far will we push our limited natural resources before we begin taking renewable energy initiatives seriously?  What do you do to make sure there is enough energy left over for future generations?  Let me know in the comments below or on facebook.
