Nocturne
Over the last few weeks I have been working on various smaller mosaics made of 5/8th “marble tiles. The artworks were created with the theme of “Nocturne” in mind, for an upcoming exhibition on November 29th at the Chazou Gallery. Three of the pieces were created in reference to a photo of a girl with striking eyes taken by Erna Lendvai-Dircksen for the book Unsere Deutschen Kinder, published in 1932. I have named the piece “Eyes of a German Child” in her honor. One of the pieces is a panoramic layout showing both the eyes. The other two pieces separates the eyes so they can hang together or individually. They play with different tones and contrast of the eyes, one being dark and the other light. The concept in mind by doing this was showing that everyone has a darker side to them.
The Nocturne exhibition will be opening on November 29th at the Chazou Gallery, displaying my full set as well as several other talented artist works.
