Kim Jong Un: Is this war?
For several years now since Kim Jong Un has replaced his father as dictator of the DPRK (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea)aka dictator held North Korea, he has been threatening escalation of the current stand-still war between North and South Korea. You may be unaware, but there has never been a stoppage of war between these 2 countries – just a signing of the 1953 armistice. An armistice is not an end to war, but merely a cessation of armed hostility while peace is being negotiated. But peace has never been reached between these two countries, just the implementation of the DMZ and a cessation of open hostilities. Just this year, North Korea acquired modern ballistic missiles, hoping that this would solidify Kim Jong Un as leader.
North Korea has not only had increasingly stringent economic sanctions placed on the country, but the Obama administration has now placed a sanction on Kim himself, leading North Korean diplomats to say that Obama has effectively “declared war”. This is the same president who is now asking Republicans in his own country to withdraw their endorsement of Donald Trump (incidentally, Trump has been endorsed by North Korea). Even Japan is moving to upgrade its defenses for the 2020 Olympics.
Do you think that there will soon be open conflict between North Korea and the rest of Asia?
