Is Online Tithing for your Church?
In the last post, we talked about online shopping. Today, I present to you the future of the church: online tithing?! Yes, it is here, and even though it might not be in your community yet, it’s only a matter of time. Check out this site that helps churches add an easy way to tithe online, and see this article about whether online tithing is something your church is ready for.
And if you don’t go to church and you’re sitting scratching your head about what tithing is, it’s basically a donation to a church made by members of that church to help with upkeep of the building as well as to feed and clothe the minister and his family. Church tithes traditionally are about 1/10th of your income. It’s kind of like crowdfunding for a religious organization on an ongoing basis.
What type of tithing do you do if you’re not religious? Does 10% of your income go towards your x-box, or are you more of a charitable donations type? Let me know in the comments, and if you are religious, do you think tithing online too futuristic for your church? Will using the internet to tithe break down community connections within the church? Let me know in the comments or on facebook.
