Penny Project Installation

I’m finally starting to catch my breath after completing and installing the giant penny at the Peace Arch Park Sculpture exhibition in Blaine WA.

I’m happy with the way it turned out and I encourage anyone who is crossing the border this summer to check it out. It is most visible when coming into Canada from the American side on the US right side of the highway in front of the last washrooms before the border. It got lots of great comments and feedback from many who saw it while I was doing the installation.

There was some discussion as to how it should be orientated and in the end, I opted to have Lincoln on the American side and the Queen on the Canadian side. I felt the Lincoln side turned out better and so gave it higher visibility. Thanks to all who helped with this project including the many who donated their pennies. A special thanks to my good friend Shawn,  who came through for me down the stretch with some extra help and welding expertise for the footing. For more info on the Penny Project,  check out this earlier post.

My family and I saw the Penny Project when we visited the Peace Arch Park earlier this year, and really enjoyed seeing your work there. I’d vote for making it a permanent part of the park. 🙂

Thanks Martin! It makes sense that it should be there.
