The Creative Eye
This is a personal art project that I am working on this month. As you might be able to note from other postings, I am intrigued by mosaic works. To create this piece, I used small already-dyed wooden blocks I purchased from a dollar store. The blocks are 1/2″ by 1/2″ in size.
To add detail to the image, I had my daughter’s put their handprints with ink onto the blocks. I then photographed all of the blocks and used Andreamosaic, a photo mosaic software to create the image. The software analyzes each wooden block to determine the optimum position for each.
I then take the list created by the software and put together the art piece like a puzzle. The next step is to glue each block onto a board for the finished art.
The further away the mosaic is viewed, the easier you will be able to see the image of Mona Lisa’s eyes.
